Vinted Users Share Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
