Vince Gilligan Discloses He Has a Plan for How Pluribus Will Conclude... For Now.

Vince Gilligan could not have predicted that Pluribus would become a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” he remarks. “It was unexpected the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

Now that Season 1 of the popular series wrapping up—and Season 2 greenlit and underway—the writers' room opened up about the viewer reception and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Overwhelming Fan Response

One could easily to get distracted by the widespread acclaim and audience predictions surrounding Pluribus. The creator is striving to steer clear of all that.

“The experience is akin to an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being laughing uncontrollably,” he describes. “It's wonderful, but I hear about it from others, and that's on purpose. Never in my life Googled myself, nor do I ever plan to. It's quite the opposite. It's a rabbit hole I know I would get lost in and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

In spite of trying to stay away, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We don't try to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by audience chatter.”

“We prefer to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.

The Central Mystery: Has the showrunner Have a Plan for the Ending of Pluribus?

Considering the writers aren't taking cues by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will ultimately end? The answer is yes… in a way.

“We've developed some potential directions about the ultimate destination,” he states. “but we are always ready to discard a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. That has held us in good stead on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we conceive of something superior and I expect we'll continue doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “though the idea hasn't gained traction.”

Then again, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to wake up in bed beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV+.
