The striker moved to Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon during the offseason

Gunners striker the Swedish attacker fails to make the cut from the new manager's initial Swedish national squad, while Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has earned a place

Gyokeres is due to undergo further assessments this week following concerns he sustained a muscle problem in Arsenal's Premier League victory against Burnley on Saturday

The 27-year-old was absent from Arsenal' European success against the Czech side earlier this week

Alexander Isak Back in Action

Isak, absent from action from 22 October because of a groin injury, has been chosen for the World Cup matches against Switzerland (15 November) plus Slovenia (18 November)

Additional England-based Inclusions

  • Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
  • Magpies wide player Anthony Elanga

Both athletes were included in Potter's England-based players chosen by ex- multiple English clubs manager Graham Potter

The New Manager's Appointment

The English manager was appointed the Swedish federation originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, less than a month after his departure by West Ham

Previous boss the Danish coach was sacked after the national team's setback against Kosovo on 13 October, a result which rendered straight qualification in qualifying group unattainable

Present Situation

The Swedish team are currently bottom of Group B having only one point in their opening four games

Even if they fail to finish second, they may yet be involved in the secondary qualification as a result of their results in the most recent UEFA competition
