New Information Surface Concerning the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
New information has come to light regarding the untimely passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also disputed published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
