Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
