Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
