Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed aged 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, per media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He also had a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
